Website Launch

I have finally launched a website even though I have owned my own domain name for many, many years. Why has it taken so long? Here are a few reasons:
- I didn’t have time to create it.
- I was (and still am) worried that it would never get updated and would get stale.
- I love WordPress but hate that everything needs to be updated all of the time and there’s a potential that something will break during updates. It caused me to avoid the entire issue all together.
I finally decided to get my act together and just put something up. I explored using Adobe Muse, using straight ‘ol HTML, paying for a service like Wix but eventually I went back to WordPress. To me, WordPress is still the most versatile CMS with a huge community that provide additional resources that add functionality to the website. I still WordPress. Thank you to the makers of the Maskitto Light theme. It’s been easy to use and working great so far!
What I learned:
- If you want to use a free WordPress theme, there will always be something about it that you don’t like. Either deal with it or be prepared to spend a lot of time trying to change it.
- Websites are time-consuming. I’ve always known this but I thought I would reiterate it. This is the #1 reason why I avoid any website work.
- You can always make your website better but if you continue to wait until it’s exactly what you want, then you could end up waiting a very long time before putting it out there.
